If you update a save file (aka load a save and say yes to the module update), save and exit to menu then view the save again it will tell you the game version. It should say Native 1.0.0.xxxxxx, but the 4 sub versions should be 1.0.Y.xxxxxxx where Y is the version number. I was also in the middle of a heavily modded e1.8.0 sandbox campaign and now I can't play it, due to the removal of e1.8.0 from the available download list. It'd be great if 1.0 or even e1.9.0 had the mods I was using on e1.8.0, but obviously the awesome modders out there need time to catch up with the newer versions.
